Information we process
Photos you choose to submit for label scans, menu advice, shelf advice, bottle lookups, or chat attachments.
Wine details, ratings, notes, taste preferences, saved store preferences, and chat requests you enter in the app.
Delivery address information you save in the app and choose to use for retailer and delivery-related recommendations.
A stable app-specific user identifier stored in the device Keychain and sent with app requests so WineAI can manage billing, feature access, and first-party analytics. The identifier may persist if you delete and reinstall the app.
Usage and access records tied to that identifier, including onboarding completion, paywall and plan interactions, purchase outcomes, premium feature usage, free label scan counts, and subscription access status.
Subscription verification and lifecycle data provided by Apple when you start a trial, purchase, renew, manage, refund, or restore WineAI Premium.
AI request accounting data such as the feature, provider, model, token totals, and estimated execution cost. WineAI does not place prompts, responses, photos, or image URLs in analytics records.
Feedback you choose to send from the app, including your message, an optional contact email address, and attached app diagnostics (app version, device model, app language, and subscription status).

To verify subscription status and enforce free and premium access rules, including label scan usage limits.
To measure the subscription funnel, feature performance, AI operating cost, and WineAI's own Apple Ads campaigns.
To operate, secure, and improve the app.
Payments
Apple processes subscription payments for WineAI Premium.
WineAI does not receive your full payment card or bank account details from Apple.
WineAI receives subscription verification data and stores billing access records needed to unlock and maintain Premium access.
Where data is stored
Your local profiles, preferences, tasting history, saved addresses, saved store preferences, saved chat transcripts, stored chat images, and stored label images are kept on your device.
Submitted photos and request data are sent to the WineAI backend and shared with OpenAI so the requested AI feature can run.
Billing access records, verified subscription lifecycle records, first-party product interaction events, Apple Ads performance totals, and AI usage and cost records are stored on the backend.
Uploaded image retention
Label scan uploads are retained for up to 1 day.
Chat, bottle-lookup, and shelf-advice uploads are retained for up to 60 days.
Menu-advice uploads are retained for up to 90 days.
Sharing
WineAI does not sell your personal data. When you use an AI feature, the submitted photos and request data described above — including your taste profile, wine notes, chat messages, and any saved delivery address or store preferences included in the request — are sent to the WineAI backend and shared with OpenAI, our third-party AI provider, solely to generate your response.
OpenAI is the only third-party AI provider WineAI shares your data with.
OpenAI processes this data under its API terms, does not use it to train its models, and provides data protection equivalent to the protections described in this policy.
The app asks for your permission before any of your data is shared with OpenAI. AI features do not run until you agree.
Tracking
WineAI does not use the data described here for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.
When you install WineAI after tapping an Apple Search Ads ad, Apple may provide attribution status, organization, campaign, ad group, keyword, and ad identifiers, conversion type, country or region, click date, and resolution date. This is Apple first-party measurement of WineAI's own advertising: it contains no data from other apps or websites, it is not shared with data brokers, and WineAI stores it with your app user id only to measure how its own ads perform.
Your choices
You can avoid submitting a photo by using manual wine entry where available.
You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your App Store account settings.
Deleting the app removes its ordinary local data, but the Keychain app user identifier may persist across a reinstall.
Deleting the app does not delete backend billing, analytics, or AI usage records, and does not immediately remove uploaded files. Uploaded files are deleted according to the retention periods above.
